Testogel

Testogel is a medication used for testosterone replacement therapy in men with a confirmed diagnosis of hypogonadism. It contains the active ingredient testosterone, which is the same as the naturally occurring male hormone testosterone. Testogel is a clear, colourless gel containing 1% of the active ingredient testosterone. A man's response to treatment with 5 g Testogel daily will be assessed by measuring blood testosterone and evaluating his clinical symptoms of testosterone deficiency. Testogel may cause edema with or without congestive cardiac failure in patients suffering from severe cardiac, hepatic or renal insufficiency. In this case, treatment must be stopped immediately. Testogel® should be used with caution in patients with ischemic heart disease. Moreover, testosterone may cause a rise in blood pressure and should be used with caution in patients with hypertension. Men using Testogel who have pregnanct or lactating partners must take particular care to avoid contact between their partner's skin and the Testogel administration site, as such exposure has the potential to adversely affect the foetus or infant.
